Everyone who’s in the path of the hurricane;
I hope you’ll all stay safe and well!
If you’re knocked incommunicado I hope we reconnect with you swiftly!

Didn't even know there was a hurricane coming. Thankfully, it looks like it'll be missing me.

There’s a new named tropical storm in the Atlantic; Henri. It’s expected to graduate to Hurricane Henri.

Henri looks like it's going to hit the northeast seaboard pretty bad. Like another Sandy.

What a week. Literally had two tornadoes touch down in Massachusetts and Connecticut just a couple days ago. Now we're about to get hit by a hurricane (albeit a comparatively weak one, though one that can still do a lot of damage and knock out power - that's what I'm prepared for). Plus massive flooding, and it sounds like the conditions are such we could wind up with another tornado in a couple days.

Honestly? I used to scoff a bit at The Day After Tomorrow because it was so exaggerated, but...hard not to feel like there's some real Day After Tomorrow shit happening these past few years. Just still thinking about the decades people knew about climate change and willfully lied to us about it to cover it up so they could continue to make profit, then gaslight us regularly by either saying it didn't happen or it's not our fault and therefore there was never anything we could do.

Spoke too soon, I guess. Luckily, I just got hit by the very edge of the new one. So, it rained for a few hours, was pretty windy (for where I live), and I lost power for something like five minutes.

My father’s and grandfather’s home town of Waverly Tennessee was hit by storms and floods.
Some people are still missing; I think some are dead.

I have family there. Most of my closer kin in Tennessee now live in bigger cities, like Nashville; but I have some more distant kin who live in or near Waverly.

I don’t know enough.

Jesus. I hope they turn up alive. This is why I'm glad I live where I do. There are a few natural disasters, but nothing that gets too serious.

The pictures from Humphreys county are really disturbing, but I don’t recognize any faces or names.

Ida was earlier this year, wasn’t it?
