I should be immune beginning April 1st.

Posted Over 1 Year ago by chiarizio

I got my first shot 2/26.
I’ll get my second 3/18.
I should be immune beginning 4/1.
...
Everybody in Michigan with a preexisting comorbidity making them more vulnerable should start to get their appointments for their for their first shot beginning 3/8.
Everybody in Michigan older than 50 y/o should start getting their appointment for their first shot beginning —— 3/20? Or 3/28? I can’t remember exactly. But it’s in March and it’s after 3/18.
Every adult in Michigan should be able to get an appointment for their first shot by the end of May.
...
President Biden wants all classroom teachers to get at least their first shot Pretty Damn Soon.
He can’t tell states or counties or school districts or cities what to do, but if all the faculty and staff of public primary and secondary schools get their first shots six weeks before the school year starts (7/20 maybe?) they can get their second shots two weeks before the school year starts (8/20 maybe?) and be immune by the time the school year starts. The teachers’ unions are very concerned about that and if it happens on schedule they might be able to return to in-person classroom instruction when schools are supposed to open the day after Labor Day in Michigan. That would be good for the mental health and the educations of the students, provided it’s otherwise safe for them to return.
...
My daughter’s caregivers are trying to schedule her vaccination. She has agreed to take whatever’s available as soon as it is available.
I can’t take her places until we’re both immune.
Even then we’d need masks and social distancing.
But just being allowed to leave the damn house together pretty much whenever we want* would be great!

*(or as close to that as it was back before December 2019!)

If I understood correctly the teachers’ union in at least one state wants not only the faculty and staff to be immunized by the start of the school year but also some significant fraction of the students.
I think it was either >= 40% or >=60%.
And they’ll still need masks and to stay >=6ft apart.

Very glad you were able to get your shots, in the end. I hope your daughter is able to get her shots soon, too.

Thanks!

She says they’re working on it.

Luckily enough, my mom got her shots very early on as she works in a hospital (the start of the year). My brother has been enrolled in a program at his workplace to get the vaccine, but no word yet. He currently has mental disability.

As for as myself I am just SOL at the moment as I don't really quality as one of first (or even 3rd) set of people to get the vaccine which is fine as I can continue to mask up and stay away from folks. I do plan on getting the vaccine myself.

I mean it's been a year and I have not got it so I hope to continue to trend.

Michigan is still in phase 1, but they have sub phases; I think phases 1a and 1b and 1c are going now.
They just announced that people over 50 who have a disability or an increased risk should try to schedule their shots now or as soon as possible because they have enough vaccine now for those people and hope to have enough equipment and workers and space and time for them.
They also announced that caregivers over the age of 16 (sixteen! not sixty!), especially if their care-recipient has special needs, are now eligible to be vaccinated. This part of the announcement comes as a surprise, at least to those of us outside the government and the health care system.
Maybe all of those people will have had at least their first shots by mid-April?

That's definitely good news.

Here's to hoping those folks are getting (at least) their first shot by April. The sooner we get folks inoculated with the vaccine the better.

I got my second shot of the Pfizer vaccine about 6.5 hours ago and am not having any unpleasant reaction.

Today I tried to get immunization shots against influenza and pneumonia and shingles, and get a booster shot against CoViD-19.

I got an influenza shot but none of the others.

They said I’d already had the complete series of pneumonia shots. Maybe I have; I don’t remember.

They said the shingles shot would cost me $193 and advised me to try to get it from somebody else.

They said I could get the booster shot for free except they didn’t have any of the same kind (Pfizer) I’d already had two shots of. They said they weren’t allowed to give me any other kind (eg Moderna). I spent some time looking for any place in any town sort-of-near-ish to mine that would have some any time in the next seven days; there aren’t any.

I’ve been having trouble contacting my Primary Care Physician. I hope I can before Friday!

How’s everyone else doing?

Got my flu shot and updated my tetanus shot the other week. Gotta love a health care system that basically tells you to try somewhere else if you want to be able to afford something that is beneficial to your health.

The vaccine doesn't immunize you. You can still catch and spread COVID. It's just an immune booster.

F**k animal testing fuck the CDC the NIH, & the FDA and all they have to offer, and f**k their "science" if the current state of affairs is where it leads.

You do realize that virtually all medication and medical procedures are tested on animals first, right?

To everyone who is being coerced, bullied, forced, and shamed into taking this vaccine against your will, I'm sorry.I stand with you, and I'm doing my best to fight for your rights.

Yes, you are doing a great job defending their Darwin Rights.

@Brocken Jr.:
The unvaccinated are four times more likely to become infected than the vaccinated.
The unvaccinated are fourteen times more likely to die of CoViD than the vaccinated.

I apologize. I have poor self control when it comes to addressing someone’s broken logic.

@Q2, I had no objection to your reply; I just wish what it was a reply to wouldn’t derail this thread.
