What are you playing? July 2021 Edition

I've gotten on a bit of a roguelike/colony builder kick. Current two games I'm messing around with are Wildermyth and Rimworld.

As I stated in the other RPG thread, I’ve started a play through of Rogue Galaxy. Also been toying with the idea of playing through the Resident Evil series starting with the first one.

I've been reading a comic from like, 2006 and I keep seeing ads in it for Rogue Galaxy.

I'm playing FFVII: Remake, FFII, and Far Cry 2. Those latter two for retrospectives, and the first one because I wanted to play it on PS5 before I dive into the DLC or whatever.

I've been replaying morrowind yet again. I'm roleplaying as a "clothing wizard" -- have like 20 unused amulets/rings on my person at all times, other exquisite clothing, and a bunch of enchantmented clothing (mostly rings). I'm stupidly powerful very early on (can kill vivec and damage dagoth ur) but have decided to use it to do some quests instead.

Still playing through Re:Village, but I think I'm near the end. For multiplayer it's mostly Rocket League / Overwatch / Chivalry 2 / Wasteland 3 these days. Might start Control once I finish off Re:Village.

Rimworld

How are you liking Rimworld? I just finished one of my most successful colonies ever.

I picked up a GameCube recently and playing all the old games I used to love. Mario Sunshine, killer7, Melee. I don't really play games made after 2010.

Marvalo

I've just started playing Dragon Warrior Builders 2. I haven't gotten too far into it yet, but it's pretty fun so far.

Plenty of great games made prior to 2010 so I can relate to this.

I’ve been playing Dark Cloud on the PS4 for the past few weeks. A lot of fun for a enhanced 21 year old PS2 game.

Have stupidly decided I want to platinum FFVII: Remake. So been playing that. And trucking through Far Cry 3.

I played 12 Minutes was a pretty interesting little game! A little frustrating for sure, and kinda falls off the rails a bit, but an interesting game.

Cookie Clicker is fun in and of itself, but it's also a pretty hilarious satire of the destructive nature of capitalism. I find this immensely enjoyable.

This is actually why most modern entertainment loses me honestly it all comes across as glorified lectures. You can convince certain audiences that anything is "deep" as long as you stoke their particular moral intuitions. Want the left to eat your schlock up jsut shit on capitalism want the right to eat your schlock up just shit on post-modernism. It's all very annoying and cookie cutter.

Everythign has to be a hamfisted weapon in this worthless culture war nothing but self-congratulatory moralizing as far as the eye can see.

It is very uninteresting and equally as predictable that "both sides" rhetoric is your first choice of refuge.

https://youtu.be/I7GL1pGuzBc

This is basically where i'm at. i'm not sure of what other refuge to take that wouldn't be in bad faith.

since that's what it is: poorly shoe-horned messages in fundamentally cynical profit-driven products.

I'm actually not disagreeing with you here. The only difference seems to be what we're including within the scope of what we're annoyed with.

It's a damn shame that things have meaning, innit?

I've heard this before and I contest its accuracy. I've had some interest in the idea of art for art's sake rahter than didactism.

All that said I actually don't have anything to disagree with you about on New Vegas. New Vegas is just a great game that actually handles its themes and concepts well rather than being annoying or frustrating.

Also I havn't mentioned it before but I really like how easy your new username is to remember.

I've also started playing Cookie Clicker again! It's going to get ported to Steam, which is awesome. Cookie Clicker is fun in and of itself

Pretty good game! Have you ever played Universal Paperclips?

It's an idle incremental game, but the meta-game changes a lot over time -- it should take around 6-8 hours to play if you're dumb like me and play it non-stop.

I don't think we'll ever see eye to eye on this sorry.

Ugh, you guys, why does this thing that has value because it expresses something about the human condition and the world around us and hopes to evoke some sort of emotional response have to say something about the human condition and the world around us and evoke some sort of emotional response? Uuuuuugh. No thank you.
